Stampers with An Attitude October Blog Hop - Focus - Sangria Artwork

October Stampers with AN Attitude Blog HOP
Focus: Sangria Paper

Our challenge this month was to feature projects created with the Sangria Paper.

If you have arrived here from Denise Elliott's Blog you are on the right path. If this is your first blog hop, it's a circular path featuring a variety of CTMH artwork! Just follow along by clicking on the links within the post

SANGRIA! The colors in this paper are just gorgeous!
Yes, they are fall-ish....but I thought they looked tropical! So, I was inspired to create a layout using a photo from our recent trip to Hawaii! The colors from the photo and Sangria paired nicely together.

I used a layout design from Jeanette Lynton's Cherish called "A New Persepective" . I love how this layout turned out! We loved our time in Hawaii! This is a nice way to capture that memory! The photo below doesn't do the layout justice! It doesn't show the details of the pretty paper.  LOL. That's my opinion.

CTMH Technique Blog Hop - Call for BACK-UP

Welcome to the CTMH Technique Blog HOP!

Featuring: Call for BACK UP!
featured on page 80 of the
Close to My Idea 2014 Annual Inspirations Idea Book

If you arrived here from Tonya's Blog
you are on the right track!
Back Up...
Who doesn't need a little back up
...even in paper crafting?

The technique in the Annual CTMH Book demonstrates using our chevron punch. Well, I don't have the chevron punch! SHHHH..no grasping! So, I improvised and used one of our wonderful Cricut cartridges.

The idea behind this technique is to use a punch or cut out to create a design and then to back the cut out  or negative space with fabulous paper for a unique look.

I used the Cricut Artfully Sent Cartridge to cut a 5 x &  "Thinking of You" card from our beautiful Blossoms Paper. Then I used a piece of solid Lagoon cardstock to "back-up" and fill the words in "Thinking of You". I like the contrast between the lagoon and Blossom's paper. I completed the card by adding a few embellishments and stamping the sentiments on the inside.

Stampers with An Attitude June Blog Hop - Focus on Masculine Artwork

June Stampers with AN Attitude Blog HOP
Focus: Masculine Artwork

Our challenge this month was to feature projects created with a masculine flair.
If you have arrived here from Melissa's Blog you are on the right path. If this is your first blog hop, it's a circular path featuring a variety of CTMH artwork! Just follow along by clicking on the links within the post.

Some find it hard to create for the man. So, this blog hop should give you a variety of ideas with the man in mind. After all...Father's Day is this month.

My project: I created a Home Decor item for one of my sons.
He is crazy about hunting for Native American artifacts. Arrowheads are among one his favorite finds. He includes his family on his adventures, and his children are learning where and what to look for to discover hidden and sometimes buried treasures.

So, I used our CTMH Jackson papers, the CTMH Cricut Artbooking Cartridge, and the Glacier twine to design this project with my son's love of arrowheads as the focal point.

CTMH Technique Blog Hop - A Bit of Blot

Welcome to the CTMH Technique Blog HOP!

Featuring: A Bit of Blot
featured on page 55 of the
Close to My Idea 2014 Annual Inspirations Idea Book

If you arrived here from Lisa Plummer's Blog
you are on the right track!

Hmmm...what is a "Bit of Blot"?
Good question!

The steps are listed above but basically it's playing with ink and water to create a unique look.
Here's my take on this technique.

I used the "blot" technique to create the red splotchy looking background. Then I randomly stamped fireworks around the splotchy paper to create a unique background paper to create this card for Memorial day. The tags were cut with my Cricut using the Close To My Heart Art Philosophy cartridge.

I played around with other colors and paper. Different looks were achieved on each try. Playing with the ink, amount of water and ink creates many variations using this technique. I encourage you to give this a try if you are looking for an eclectic look in your projects.

CTMH Technique Blog Hop - Embossing

Welcome to the CTMH Technique Blog HOP!

Featuring: Embossing
featured on page 128 of the
Close to My Idea 2014 Annual Inspirations Idea Book

If you arrived here from Judy Faye's Blog,
you are on the right track!

Embossing! Oh my! I love the look of embossing but I am not good at it!
Just saying up front that I loved playing with the technique
but more practice is in order!

For this project I decided to use a new technique for me.
First, I inked one side of the embossing folder with whisper ink.
Next, I embossed the cardstock by running it through my embosser.
Then I inked over the raised up area of the chevron pattern with glacier ink.
(The ink will dry lighter than it appears.)
Then I used a couple of Project My Life cards as the top two layers.
I love Dr. Seuss and this quote.... which was perfect for my card.
I wrapped the multi-colored layer with our Glacier extra thick twine, added the top layer with pop up tape, and added sequins. BAM! Card done!

Someone shared a tip about wiping the embossing folder with a baby wipe before inking the folder. So,  I did. Well, if you look real close the Whisper ink looks like little dots. I could say I intended it to look that way, but I didn't. That look was achieved because I didn't let the folder dry before inking it. (a little impatient? Yup! :))) I thought it was kind of a cool look so I went with it! I loved playing with the inks on the embossing folder. Of course, I tried different folders with different inks. Time prohibited me from finishing them and showing them here.

Looking for a new look in embossing...try this one!

You can find the product on my Close to My Heart page here.

April's Stampers with An Attitude - Spring Has Sprung Blog Hop

Spring has finally arrived! Yippee!

My post today is a project for the Stampers With An Attitude April Blog Hop. Our challenge this month was to feature projects created with spring in mind. Of course, we used Close to My Heart Products! The best products ever!

If you have arrived here from Melissa Robinson's Blog you are on the right path. If this is your first blog hop, it's a circular path featuring a variety of CTMH artwork! Just long along by clicking on the links within the post.

My projects: I decided to create two cards using our absolutely wonderful Cricut Artfully Sent cartridge. This cartridge makes creating a card fast and easy! This first card I created was a "welcome spring" card featuring our new Blossom paper.

Blossom Paper

The second card is a Mother's Day card featuring our Brushed paper! These two papers are fabulous for spring creations.
Brushed Paper

My red flower was handmade. I have had a fondness for fabric "yo yos" since I was a small child. I watched my grandmother make them and was fascinated! I am still fascinated my fabric "yo-yos". This card needed an embellishment so I created my own! The bling flower in the center is a retired CTMH embellishment. (I hoarded them. ;) hehe) The green ribbon is in our current product line.

CTMH Technique Blog Hop - Blank Canvas

Welcome to the CTMH Technique Blog HOP!

Featuring: a Blank Canvas
featured on page 32 of the
Close to My Idea 2014 Annual Inspirations Idea Book

I love a blank canvas!
Oh , I am not a painter. I can't paint!
But I love covering them
with fabric or paper and making them fancy!
Don't you?
Well, let's hop along to see what we have created on a BLANK CANVAS!

If you arrived here from Melissa Robinson's BLOG,
you are on the right track!

The CTMH canvas is 6 x 6...not huge, but just the right size to tuck on a shelf or a table after it's been embellished!

First, I decided to use the CTMH Brushed paper packet! These papers are adorable and so springy! I also think they are just right for Easter and baby shower layouts!
Then, I used the CTMH exclusive Art Philosophy Cricut Cartridge to cut the egg and overlay.
Next, I cut the "M" from our Artbooking Cricut Cartridge. I wanted the "M" to be a little more dimensional so here's a tip for adding a little more height to shapes.
Tip: Cut the letter or shape at the same size multiple times. I cut the "M" six times. Then layer them on top of each other with you favorite glue.
Finally, I assembled and glued all pieces on the canvas. Another tip--I used our fabulous Liquid Glass adhesive to attach the yellow paper to the canvas. I also used pop-up tape to "POP-up" the egg.

Pretty stinking cute and fast!

March Stampers with an Attitude Show You Their Picture My Life Artwork Blog Hop

Happy March Everyone!
So happy that Spring is on the way! I LOVE spring! A time for fresh new ideas!

My post today is a project for the Stampers With An Attitude March Blog Hop. Our challenge this month was to feature projects created with our Picture My Life Cards from Close To My Heart.

If you have arrived here from Sheila's Blog you are on the right path. If this is your first blog hop, it's a circular path featuring a variety of CTMH artwork  if you follow the links.

My project is a single page layout. It features our Heartstrings paper and Picture My Life cards, random stamping, and a little chaos. LOL.

My mission for this month's challenge was to keep it fast, easy, and simple. I used the Babycakes Picture My Life cards to create 4 easy-peasy cards.
It took approximately 30 minutes to create all four cards.
I used one large PML card and two of the smaller cards per card, CTMH pop-up tape, and glue. The hardest part was selecting which PML cards to use. LOL. They are so cute and the variations are limitless! Really, it was so simple!

CTMH Technique Blog Hop - Music to My Eyes

Welcome to the CTMH Technique Blog HOP!

Featuring: Music to My Eyes
Did I say, "to my EYES"?
Yes, I did.
This month we are featuring the technique of journaling.
There are many ways to use journaling pens:
1. to record important information about an event,
2. using pens to add whimsical designs to your artwork, or
3. using pens to enhance stamped images.

So, hop along with us as you discover
how to use a journaling pen in your artwork!

If you arrived here from Debi's Blog, you are on the right track!

Traditional journaling is not easy for me! Or, at least not with a pen! My go-to type of journaling is with a catchy title, or using stamps to create the information, or using a computer to print the details.

I think... I over-think it... handwritten journaling! I know recording information is important. It's important to capture the place, time, attitude of the moment! However, recording emotions and feelings is a little more difficult. For my project I chose what comes hard for me....traditional, handwritten journaling! Ugh! This is probably not my best project.... but at least I did stepped out of my comfort zone to do a little hand journaling for such fabulous news! (And this blog technique)

My niece gave me a wonderful Valentine yesterday...she called to tell me she's going to have a BABY! Due in August! Shrill! Dance! So I created a layout to capture the news and add a picture of her!

February Stampers with an Attitude Spotlight on Seasonal Expressions 1 Blog Hop

Hi Everyone!
Today's post is part of the Stampers With An Attitude February Blog Hop. Our theme this month was to feature anything from the Close To My Heart Seasonal Expressions 1 Idea Book.

If you have arrived here from Wendy's blog you are on the right path. If this is your first blog hop, it's a circular path featuring a variety of CTMH artwork  if you follow the links.

My project is a single page layout. It features our Heartstrings paper and Picture My Life cards, random stamping, and a little chaos. LOL.

I found a sketch on Pinterest I wanted to try. Of course, I never follow the sketch exactly! My interpretation always has a mind of its own! Oh well! That's the FUN in creating! Plus, this type of layout is kind of out of my comfort zone.

A close up of the pocket heart and PML tags.

I cut the 3-D heart with the Artiste Cartridge, laid it on the paper, and then started random stamping around it. I absolutely LOVE the doodle circles from Doodled Designs, and the Brushstrokes Stamp Sets! They were so fun to use! By using the coordinating ink colors from the Heartstrings Paper Pack I knew the colors would work perfectly. That's why I love Close to My Heart products! I used our PML Hearstrings cards to create the tags inside the heart. It is now ready for my Valentine babies' pictures. The Designed Decor Frame lets me display the layout for Valentine's Day, and then later add it to an album.

I used these products from the Seasonal Expressions 1 Idea Book,

X7193B - Heartstrings Paper Packet
X7193C - Heartstrings Complements
A1170 - Doodled Designs Stamp Set
C1608 -Brushstrokes Stamp Set
M1053 -Sweeter With You Stamp Set
Z3046 - Picture My Life Heartstrings Scrapbooking Program
Z3038 - Stuck on You Puffies

And these products from the Annual Inspirations Idea Book
Z1790 - Artiste - Exclusive CTMH Cricut Cartridge
Z2128 - Hollyhock Exclusive Ink
Z2195 - Lagoon Exclusive Ink
Z2105 - Black Exclusive Ink
Z2015- Black Designed Decor Shadow Box

If you haven't had a chance to view the SE1 just click here and you may view it online. Wow! There are lots of fun and creative items in this Idea Book.
The Seasonal Expressions 1 is only available until March 30, 2015.

Charmed I'm Sure --- CTMH Technique Blog Hop

Hi! A group of Close to My Heart consultants are featuring a CTMH Technique Blog Hop each month. Each month we focus on using CTMH products in our artwork.
If you arrived here from Judy Faye's Place, you are on the right track!

This month we are featuring "Charms". Charms are part of the CTMH Base and Bling collection. These charms can be used on our necklace but what else can they be used for? Well, check out this blog hop for more ways to use "Charms".

I have been wanting to try my hand at decorating a CTMH Display Tray. As I have already stated this week, I love the Heartstrings paper. So, I put the two together and came up with the following.

I used CTMH Base and Bling in the "Family" spot. That cute little dangling heart comes from the Base and Bling Collection. The other Base & Bling item I created was the "You and Me" charm at the bottom of the tray. Isn't it adorable? I am not sure I am finished with this project. It seems to need something else. I may have to add some additional embellishments.

Hmmmm...I guess I am going to have to make and use a light box for taking photos....The lighting doesn't do the project justice. I did leave some blank spots in the tray. That's where my photos will go. This is a wedding gift and I didn't want to ruin the surprise! hahaha

Thank you for stopping by to see my "Charmed" project!
You can order Close to My Heart products here.

Now hop over to Tmorrows Treasures to be "charmed" some more.

Heartstrings Paper Pack

I absolutely love the new Heartstring Paper. I have been creating a lot of things with this paper. Here are a few of my creations:

The "LOVE" banner was made using the Heartstrings Paper Pack, CTMH Art Philosophy Cartridge, and the Damask Embossing folder.
The cards were made with leftover scrap paper using recipes from the "Make It From Your Heart" books. It's easy to create cute cards with scraps and a recipe.
